100% Tax Deductible Gift Ideas

So often, the go to gift for clients, suppliers or other business relationships is restaurant or supermarket vouchers, food or drink - but these are only 50% tax deductible as these types of purchases are considered entertainment

If you want to claim 100% of the cost of your gift for tax purposes, here’s some gift ideas you could consider;

  • fuel vouchers

  • massage or beauty therapy treatments or products

  • homewares (think nice knives, pottery, platters, glassware, chopping boards, candles)

  • Flowers (not with chocolate!)

  • Books

Please know that you should never give cash - it’s too hard to prove the purpose if the IRD are looking at your spending and there are fringe benefit issues if the gift is for an employee. Any cash given to employees should still be paid via your payroll system and taxed.
